Observing the planet Jupiter, a nova?

On thursday september 30th 2010 around 6:00GMT some 3-5' to the north east of Jupiter I observed a star, magnitude 2 aprox, that wasn't visible 4 hours before.

Some 15 mins later it was visible only thru the binoculars.
